When breweries focus on the profitable niche

GEA Westfalia Separator is also the correct partner for this strategy

Numerous breweries for instance use Westfalia Separator hydry separators for adjusting the turbidity levels of white beer.

Big is beautiful, this is certainly one of the mega trends in the global beer market. However, the profitable niche is still an alternative to the desire to achieve pure size. This can be of a regional nature, but can also be related to innovative or traditional products for which there is consumer demand. GEA Westfalia Separator has been and still is the reliable partner of the brewing industry also for this strategy.

For instance, for many years, profitable niche growth in Germany has been reported by breweries which offer wheat beer – even in the northern part of Germany. Also involved is GEA Westfalia Separator with its Westfalia Separator hydry separators for adjusting the turbidity level of white beer. A further example are Belgian special beers. These breweries also place their trust in GEA Westfalia Separator for their choice of supplier. For instance, the Van Honsebrouck brewery has decided to use two type GSC 150 separators.

What is kwass?
The Russian kwass market is a further interesting example. GEA Westfalia Separator has not only been able to sign up the market leader Ochakovo as a customer in this market; it has also been able to sign up numerous other producers, and the market share of GEA Westfalia Separator in the kwass segment is now more than 80 percent.
Regional roots in conjunction with an independent beer character can also be the key to success. For many years, Potts Brewery in Oelde has been one of the breweries which focus on regional marketing, regional products and quality. This brewery has also used the innovative technologies of GEA Westfalia Separator for expanding its production capacities. For instance, our company was awarded an order for kieselguhr-free beer filtration of the type PROFI® 50. There is still considerable life in the niche. GEA Westfalia Separator offers the technological conditions in this respect.

As a pioneer in all matters of beer clarification, GEA Westfalia Separator in 2009 is able to look back on 100 years of beer separation. In 1909, the first separator was installed in a Vienna brewery by the predecessor of GEA Westfalia Separator. 100 years of beer separation mean 100 years of success. This success has not been the result of chance. On the contrary, it is the result of a constant further development of GEA Westfalia Separator. Today, centrifugal separating technology is the preferred tool in more and more brewery applications.
