Preventive status monitoring with Westfalia Separator® wewatch®

GEA Westfalia Separator Group at Brau Beviale 2011

Westfalia Separator® wewatch® assures preventive maintenance of the status of centrifuges and the resultant possibility of timely intervention.

Separators and decanters are core components in most processes in which they are used. If service work has to be carried out because wear has not been detected in time, the entire process can come to a standstill; every operations manager without doubt wishes to avoid such a situation. The solution is to be found in a monitoring program for the machines which permits timely intervention to take place.

With Westfalia Separator® wewatch® GEA Westfalia Separator Group has developed a monitoring program for centrifuges which can be used “offline” at the operator or “online” at the customer and simultaneously at GEA Westfalia Separator Group, which provides protection against unscheduled downtimes and thus ensures that service budgets are met. For the online use of the machine and process monitoring system, GEA Westfalia Separator Group has additionally created an Internet-based web portal which, as a simple and self-explanatory tool, notifies the machine operator continuously of the status of the machine. The portal generates maintenance messages or alarms, which are forwarded directly by e-mail or mobile phone to the persons with relevant responsibility. The Westfalia Separator® wewatch® system permits specific recommendations to be made with regard to the optimum operation of the centrifuge. It provides maximum reliability and comprises an extensive package of data management which permits the optimum implementation of control and monitoring.

Any service work is agreed on a timely basis because of the early indication of wear, and the necessary maintenance and replacement work is carried out at a favourable time in accordance with a specific schedule. Westfalia Separator® wewatch® guarantees higher reliability and better availability of the machines, attains status-related maintenance, permits planable and calculable service in conjunction with service agreements with fixed budgets for transparent cost control; unscheduled downtimes are avoided. The acceptance of this tool in the market is correspondingly positive.
