New SeaWater Distiller from GEA Westfalia Separator Systems

With a self-made newly developed fresh water generator, GEA Westfalia Separator Systems has expanded its product line, providing shipping companies and shipyards with a further module for the engine room from a single source: an ideal supplement to the product range. The entry-level model is the SeaWater Distiller, SWD, with a capacity range of 10 to 30 t/d. Medium-term, the product range will be extended upwards with plate heat exchangers to 70 t/d and downwards to below 10 t/d. The range initially presented from 10 to 30 m³/day is designed to completely cover the fresh water consumption on merchant vessels with a 10 to 20 man crew. The SeaWater Distillers from GEA Westfalia Separator Systems are configured as plate heat exchangers and work according to the evaporator-condenser principle. Simple principle, simple solution. No additional thermal energy supply is necessary for fresh water generation.

GEA Westfalia Separator Systems has utilised the new configuration of the SWD to make the design more maintenance-friendly and more robust. All components of the distillate system are elegantly integrated and thus provide a visually appealing solution by combining them into a distillate block. The SWD makes merchant vessels self-sufficient with fresh water and not dependent on taking aboard water in ports. With this new conception, GEA Westfalia Separator Systems is meeting the demands of the market and has rounded off its product line to supplement the core products of centrifugal technology. GEA Westfalia Separator Systems is therefore increasingly evolving into a package supplier for maritime applications.
