The reconstruction of the works for the latest separator production of GEA Westfalia Separator Group is running at full pelt: on 26th April, the first diggers began the earthworks. Since then, new progress has been evident every day on the site between Robert-Schuman-Ring and Werner-Habig-Straße.
A large project requires large dimensions: some 1,800 lorry loads are currently handling the entire excavation for the commencement of the foundations on the site. In this phase, around 200 tonnes of reinforcing steel have also already been handled and the first rotating tower crane has been in operation since the middle of May. The first supports are planned for the end of June, as “the construction progress is currently in line with our schedule,” reports Gerhard Populoh, the Project Manager responsible from GEA Westfalia Separator Group.
The outlay was projected in advance for the entire reconstruction: by the time the works reconstruction is finally accepted at the end of July 2012, around 1,000 tonnes of steel construction, 1,500 tonnes of reinforcing steel, 13,000 m³ concrete and 2,500 finished parts will have been needed for it. The project teams from GEA Westfalia Separator Group and Köster are co-ordinating around 5,000 plans in order to ensure an optimum layout after completion.
Nonetheless, work is currently being undertaken not only on the new production halls: in parallel with this, the entrance area on Werner-Habig-Straße on the level of the GEA Westfalia Separator Group administration tower block is also being remodelled.
Regular updates of the construction progress will be published on our Facebook page.
