The CE (Communauté Européenne - European Community) Mark is an external means of identifying goods and services which comply with European directives. When affixed to a product it indicates to users and consumers that the product complies with the relevant EU directives and is authorized for free trade within the EU and the EFTA countries.
This regulation was introduced with the objective of guaranteeing the free trade of goods and services and making trade transparent. According to this regulation, as many products as possible are to meet uniform requirements in the areas of health and safety within the European economic area.
The company marketing the product – the manufacturer in Europe, the licensee or the importer from a non-European country – is responsible for complying with the prevailing EU directives at any one time. In making a declaration of conformity, the “introducer” is obliged to assume responsibility for complying with the directives. Affixing the CE Mark to products makes this obligation directly visible. The CE mark of conformity is mandatory for these countries and must be attached to the machines before putting them into circulation and commissioning.
The brochure “Making our Mark” describes various scenarios (delivery of complete and “incomplete” machines, modification of machines) and the steps to be followed to perform conformity assessment. In addition, relevant EU directives and standards are listed and contacts named for the subject of declaration of conformity and incorporation of incomplete machines.
The brochure is available as download in the box "Brochures" in the right column of this page.
