With the introduction of the GSE 550 clarifier two years ago, Westfalia Separator Food Tec opened the door to a new dimension in centrifuge construction. With a rated capacity of 1500 hl/h, a bowl diameter of 1000 mm and an equivalent clarifying area of 550.000 m² it overshadows everything previously available on the market for brewery centrifuges.
It was received particularly well by large breweries. The GSE 550 is now separating very successfully, for instance in an American brewery where green beer separation with the GSE 550 is now standard practice, and for polishing in a major European brewery. It is ideal for such applications.
High polishing performance
This is because the GSE 550 not only clarifies much more beer per hour than other separators when used in standard clarifying tasks in the brewery, it also has much higher performance, particularly in the case of polishing tasks. The GSE 550 attains a value of more than 550.000 m2 for the equivalent clarifying area. For polishing upstream of the filter, a GSE 550 can easily attain a performance of 650 hl/h. This performance is thus within the range demanded by large breweries from their filter cellars as many cellars in this category operate at capacities of more than 500 hl per hour. Additional parameters for the top performance range have also been optimised in the GSE 550. The sludge holding space has been increased to hold almost 50 litres making the time to automatic discharge, and thus the effective production time, extremely long.
