GEA Westfalia Separator South Africa, part of the GEA Westfalia Separator Group and industry leaders in centrifugal separation technology, will host a BestPractices conference where the topic of focus will be the South African dairy industry. The symposium will take place at the Kloofzicht Lodge in Johannesburg on 11 and 12 July, and again at the Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa outside Cape Town on 14 and 15 July 2011.
BestPractices conferences are designed to address key topics within specific industries by presenting tailored and specific presentations by top-quality industry leaders as speakers. “The aim is to create a platform for the sharing and transfer of knowledge by creating room for interaction and discussion,” explains Taryn Du Plessis, Commercial and Marketing Co-ordinator at GEA Westfalia South Africa.
“After hosting successful BestPractices conferences within the South African wine making industry, GEA Westfalia Separator South Africa is sharing its leading brand knowledge with the dairy industry in a similar way,” says Du Plessis.
Discussions by GEA Westfalia Separator Group industry managers will be targeted at South African dairy producers, who will be presented with the GEA perspective on the dairy market and the latest international trends and innovations applicable to dairy production – specifically the latest technologies in milking, cold chain, and pasteurisation.
“A portion of the conference will be dedicated to the diversification of cheeses, while cheese tasting will make a great opportunity for delegates to experience various GEA Group technologies’ final products,” explains Du Plessis.
Local specialists from GEA Africa and international speakers from Germany, Italy and Denmark will present seminars on global and local dairy production; from farm to customer – dairy supply chain; modern dairy equipment; ESL (extended shelf life) versus UHT (ultra-heat treatment); and equipment life-cycle management. The seminar will also host guest speakers such as Alwyn Kraamwinkel, the CEO of Sampro, who will discuss the use of GEA Westfalia Separator equipment within the dairy industry.
“Various machines will be on display at the conference for delegates to view and experience GEA Westfalia Separator technologies in operation,” says Du Plessis. Exciting new products will also be introduced, featuring the most innovative separator technology from the GEA Group.
GEA Westfalia Separator South Africa hopes the seminar will generate new business within the separator and decanter technology market – helping producers increase output while allowing them to save on production costs.
