GEA Westfalia Separator will invest around 90 million Euros in the German location Oelde over the next three years. The first cut of the spade for the production centre of the future took place on 8.12.2008. The largest single investment within the GEA Group, Bochum, is made up of one third for building investments and two thirds for investments in machines and test bay technology. The objective is to increase the efficiency at the German location Oelde through modernisation and focusing production. Even more:“When we invest 90 million Euros in our main production facility, this is not only an investment in buildings and machines - it is indeed also an investment in the ideas and commitment of our employees“, Holger Heinrich, Division President GEA Westfalia Separator, declared in his address.
Additional new organisation
In addition to these construction measures, GEA Westfalia Separator will change its organisational structure. The concentration on only two sales companies, GEA Westfalia Separator Process GmbH and GEA Westfalia Separator Systems GmbH, will develop clear synergy effects for the company through the logically coordinated structure of the integrated business units. GEA Westfalia Separator Process GmbH focuses on the more complex, individual process technology with separators and decanters. GEA Westfalia Separator Systems GmbH will concentrate on more volume-orientated applications which, like for example mineral oil separators or environmental decanters, represent comparatively standardized machine solutions in the portfolio of GEA Westfalia Separator. An independent production company, GEA Westfalia Separator Production GmbH, with production facilities in Germany (Oelde and Niederahr), France, India and China provides additional market proximity. Machines and “know-how parts” will in future be manufactured where they are actually needed.
Currently, GEA Westfalia Separator manufactures around 7000 centrifuges per annum with approximately 3000 employees which are used in over 2500 industrial processes. The core competence of the market leader for mechanical separation technology is, besides centrifuge construction, innovative machine and process technological solutions combined with proactive maintenance which enjoys equal priority as a business objective in the philosophy of GEA Westfalia Separator.
