Practice has shown : the combined Westfalia Separator profi separator/membrane filter process solves not only the primary development aim, namely the complete substitution of kieselguhr. It is also more than an attractive alternative in terms of beer quality, flexibility and cost-effectiveness in more and more breweries worldwide.
The future of beer filtration is kieselguhr-free. The intelligent and profitable PROFI® system combines centrifuge and membrane and is in this way setting standards in beer filtration. Westfalia Separator profi frees the brewery from costly kieselguhr treatment, quality losses and superfluous storage tanks. The complete filtration process flows with maximum yield and easy change of beer types. GEA Westfalia Separator Process will be showing Westfalia Separator profi as a highlight on the exhibition stand of this year’s BRAU Beviale. To date, Westfalia Separator profi installations have been sold to large breweries on almost all continents.
Beer recovery
Depending on the process, different volumes of yeast and tank bottoms are produced during the fermentation and storage of beer. In most cases, they still contain a substantial quantity of beer which must be recovered in economical process management. With the use of separators, decanters and membrane installations, as fresh as possible processing of the yeast and tank bottoms (e.g. direct from the fermentation tank) achieves a good quality of the recovered beer.
As a subsidiary of GEA Westfalia Separator, a company of GEA Group, GEA Westfalia Separator Process has made a name for itself worldwide in the design and production of separators and decanters in the fields of application: beverage and dairy technology, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, starch technology, industrial biotechnology, as well as oils and fats recovery and processing. Every separator and every decanter incorporates the experience and competence of more than 115 years in the construction of centrifugal separation equipment. The know-how of the entire group and the results of the customers achieved in the field are utilised for the development of ready-to-connect system solutions. This concept is rounded off by GEA Westfalia Separator’s move into membrane filtration. So GEA Westfalia Separator Process is in a position to offer the complete process chain right up to polishing. As a result, users increase the economy of their installations through the intelligent coordination of centrifugation with membrane filtration.
