The flagship is the Westfalia Separator® HyVol® separator GSE 550, which can clarify up to 1500 hl beer per hour
In the global brewing industry, the production facilities are becoming larger and larger to better exploit the economy of scales. GEA Westfalia Separator, Oelde, has quickly responded to this trend by launching correspondingly powerful separators. The flagship in this line is the Westfalia Separator hyvol separator GSE 550, which can clarify up to 1500 hl beer per hour. Over the past three years eleven of these giants have been sold and commissioned in the USA and Russia. SABMiller, as the second largest brewery concern, was the pioneer. The Westfalia Separator hydry separator line, the machines which have been designed with an emphasis on minimized product losses, has been successfully launched on the market. The first separator of this new series, the GSC 200 model, was able to be installed at the Krombacher brewery as have many innovations of GEA Westfalia Separator in the past.
An alternative to striving for sheer size is the profitable niche. GEA Westfalia Separator has likewise anticipated this trend and reacted with a corresponding product line: The Westfalia Separator hydry and hyvol separators currently start with an hourly capacity of two hl and is therefore just as interesting for the microbrewery as for the global player.
