Economical treatment of coolant emulsions and washing lyes

Westfalia Separator at EMO Hannover 2007

The separator type OSD 2 exhibited at EMO can purify 300 l/h coolant emulsion and 250 l washing lye respectively. This active process liquid management cuts costs and makes a significant contribution to protecting the environment.

The focus of the Business Unit Industry of Westfalia Separator Mineraloil Systems GmbH at EMO Hannover 2007 is the economical treatment of coolant emulsions and washing lyes in the metal-processing industry. The main exhibit at the world’s leading trade fair for metal working from  17. to 22. September 2007 is the self-cleaning separator type OSD 2. The smallest separator in the world is suitable in this field of application specifically for the purification of small product streams.

In addition, Westfalia Separator will be providing information about a newly developed innovation network from which cross-process complete solutions can be generated.

Higher productivity, lower costs
Coolant emulsions and washing lyes must be regularly rid of solid impurities and tramp oil  to retain their properties.  This fluid management extends the life of the metal working fluids by the factor four to five.  Besides cutting operating costs, a contribution is made to protecting the environment. Moreover, centrifugal separation technology makes for more constant and improved working conditions.  The result is a boost in productivity of the entire process.

Small separator, large performance
The separator type OSD 2 exhibited at EMO can, for example, purify up to 300 l/h coolant emulsion and 250 l/h washing lye. This “self-thinking” separator features automatic bowl ejections triggered via an electronic control. It can therefore also be used when there are high solids contents in the product to be separated.

As with all separators from Westfalia Separator, the OSD 2 convinces in many respects through:

  • improved separation efficiency
  • low fresh water consumption
  • extended maintenance intervals
  • a reduced space requirement of up to 40 percent
  • 60 percent less weight.

The flat belt drive instead of a gear makes for simple maintenance. The excellent price-performance ratio is rounded off by the low vibration sensitivity and noise development. Every D-Type separator is also available as a ready-to-connect compact unit which permits fast and simple installation.

Web presence of the Business Unit Industry online www.fluidsmanagement.com
On its new multilingual homepage, the Business Unit Industry of Westfalia Mineraloil Systems GmbH presents cross-process complete solutions for efficient fluid management in the production process and in the treatment of oils. Westfalia Separator pursues continuous research and development work both in-house as well as in the form of cooperations and networks. This philosophy is reflected, amongst other things, in the  innovation platform www.fluidsmanagement.com > Innovation, which provides information on product developments and new process techniques as well as promoting an exchange of ideas.
