For beer recovery, GEA Westfalia Separator is currently the only provider which manufactures the three process variants separator, decanter and membrane filter, providing neutral advice and making recommendations which are suitable for each specific application.
The brewing industry worldwide is facing increasingly tough competition. The necessity to work economically is therefore becoming more and more important. In view of this situation, the focus is shifting to beer recovery In this field, GEA Westfalia Separator is currently the only provider to make the three process alternatives separator, decanter and membrane filter; this means that it is able to provide neutral advice and make recommendations which are suitable for each specific application.
The following product philosophy applies for beer recovery: the separator represents the most simple process solution with minimal investment costs and attains high yields and beer qualities. Decanter technology is the most economical alternative for large breweries with outputs upwards of approximately two million hectolitres. In the low-capacity segment, membrane filtration is the most cost-effective solution. It also produces a completely yeast-free bright product.
Complete solutions from a single source
In order to decide which of these beer recovery systems should ideally be used, the technology experts of GEA Westfalia Separator analyse in advance the precise individual requirements of the particular brewery to determine the most suitable process or process combination. All these variants should, however, be combined with a short-heating facility when recirculating the beer into the cold range to deactivate any separated proteases which would otherwise have a negative impact on the head of the beer. GEA Westfalia Separator can also offer these complete concepts from a single source, whereby the resources of the entire GEA Group are utilized.
As a pioneer in the field of beer clarification, GEA Westfalia Separator can look back on 100 years of beer separation in 2009. The first separator was installed in a brewery in Vienna in 1909 by the predecessor firm of GEA Westfalia Separator. 100 years of beer separation means a 100 year successful track record. A success story which was not written by chance. It is rather the result of a constant further development of GEA Westfalia Separator. Today, centrifugal separation technology is the first choice in more and more brewery applications.
