The GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft

The GEA Group, headquartered in Bochum, Germany, is a globally successful technology group with more than 250 companies in 50 countries. The company now focuses on specialty mechanical engineering – especially process engineering and equipment. The emphasis lies on the two basic engineering processes of heat exchange and mass transfer.

GEA Group technologies are applied in the food, chemical and petrochemical industries, the energy sector, air treatment and shipbuilding as well as the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Approximately one-third of the worldwide produced instant coffee is manufactured in plants made by the GEA Group. Around every fourth liter of milk is produced or processed with GEA Group equipment and every second liter of beer might well have passed through one of our components. The GEA Group is one of the world`s market and technology leaders in 90 per cent of its businesses.

In 2007 the GEA Group employed some 19.500 people who generated sales of EUR 5.2 billion. The result before taxes and interest (EBIT) amounted to EUR 422.2 million. The GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft is listed on MDAX stock index (WKN: 660 200, ISIN: DE0006602006).

New segmentation of the Group

Since its introduction as of January 01, 2008, the new structure has changed the Group’s appearance: The activities of the GEA Group will now be managed in the two segments of Process Technology and Energy and Farm Technology, instead of the previous segments Customized Systems, Process Equipment and Process Engineering. The Process Technology Segment comprises the following divisions: Process Engineering, Pharma Systems (which is now separated from the Process Engineering Division), Process Equipment, Refrigeration and the Mechanical Separation Division. The Energy and Farm Technology Segment brings together the Thermal Engineering (previously Energy Technology), Air Treatment, Emission Control (previously Gas Cleaning) and Farm Technologies (previously Dairy Farm Systems) divisions.
